As the Wiser 2 is a local device with no cloud server offering, port forwarding is required. The default communication port for Wiser 2 is port 80, and as port 80 is a standard HTTP port, a different external port must be used. We suggest changing the port in Wiser, or using a different external port in the modem. We’ve historically used port 2525, as we’ve found it to not clash with any other devices.
Wiser2 supports TCP communications and SSL (Secure Sockets Layer), which is an encrypted communications protocol.
To enable SSL on the Wiser2, enter <Wiser2 IP>/setupssl.pl (eg 192.168.1.250/setupssl.pl)in a web browser. The internal port used is 443 (standard HTTPS port), which needs to be redirected from a different external port; we’ve used 2526 and 8443, although it can be any unreserved and unused port. Once this step has been completed try connecting remotely from your Wiser2 app with SSL enabled to test. Or put
