Wiser Home Control Mk2 (Wiser 2) is a home controller for C-Bus networks. It features a strong scene controller, a logic engine, a scheduler (with sunset/sunrise timings), and a smart phone app for local and remote control.

Some setup is required to use a Wiser 2 controller with Smart Voice in PICED (the Wiser 2 commissioning software) and on the network the Wiser 2 is attached to.

As there is no cloud service available for this platform, the unit must be set to a static IP address on the local network, a static external IP or a dynamic DNS service must be used, and port forwarding must be set up on the modem.

PICED Setup

LAN Settings

The first thing to do when setting up your Wiser 2 is to set it to static IP on your local network. This can be done either by turning off DHCP on your Wiser 2, or allocating an IP to the Wiser 2 in your modem. If you turn off DHCP on the Wiser 2 and then change your modem, your Wiser 2 will be inaccessible on the local network. If you allocate the IP Address in your modem and need to change out your Wiser 2, you'll need to edit the MAC Address of the device before the rule will apply.

To turn off DHCP on the Wiser, access the settings in Project Details -> Wiser -> LAN;

Uncheck the Obtain an IP Address Automatically box, and enter the details in the fields provided. Ensure you enter correct details for the Gateway Address section. For the DNS fields, it's best to use your modem's IP and your ISP DNS addresses. If these aren't available, Google's DNS addresses can also be used (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4).

Projector Control and Port Forwarding

It is important that Projector Control is enabled. Find the checkbox in Project Details -> Wiser -> Access;

Also note in the above screenshot the Remote Access Port, which is 80 by default. This can be left at 80, but as this is the standard HTTP port, we suggest either using a different port here, or using a different external port. Not all modems support this feature, so it's generally easiest to use a different port here.

For wiser 2 with firmware 1.33.1 we need to add port forwarding from internal port 443 to port 8443 external, and internal port 80 to any port external, for sample below we use 2525  for the wiser IP address.

The method for port forwarding varies between modems, but an example of routing one external port to a different internal port is below;

Once you've got the Wiser 2 IP address and port forwarding set up, upload to your Wiser, then try logging in from your app and browser. You can also use a tool such as canyouseeme.org to make sure your port forwarding rules are working.

in the smart voice setting page, we remember to input the port 2525 in this case to our smart voice portal.

If your port forwarding isn't working, contact your internet provider. Providers can occasionally allocate external IP addresses that do not work with port forwarding, so they will need to cater for this.

External (WAN) IP

For remote access to your Wiser from the app and from Smart Voice, you will need to ensure your external IP address isn't changing. By default, most service providers give clients a dynamic external IP, which means your external IP address will change over time. To fix this, most ISPs offer a static IP address for an additional cost per month, or you can use a service such as dyn.com.

Portal Setup

Follow the instructions in this support document to create your control system.

Autoloading

Wiser 2 supports Autoloading from the Portal. Autoload relies on the room and function group of the devices you have, so it is important that the widgets in your Wiser 2 are set up cleanly for a good voice experience. For example, for the Kitchen Downlights, it is best to put them in a room called Kitchen, in a function group of Lights or Lighting, and a name of Downlights. If they are called Kitchen Downlights in the Kitchen room, then the resulting device name will be Kitchen Kitchen Downlights.

See this support document for more information on Autoloading.
